CORINTHIANS
INTRODUCES
STREET
SOCCER
What
is Street Soccer?
Street
Soccer is soccer practice in
its purest form, no boring drills, no long waiting lines, just lots of
ball touches and the decision making experience to achieve excellence on
the field. Street
Soccer is “practice” and “practice makes permanent”.
Street Soccer is
dynamic, fun, and more productive than line drills, full field
scrimmages, or exercises that eliminate “actual” defensive pressure.
Why
Street Soccer?
Street
Soccer creates an environment
that accelerates player development because it involves all four
elements of the game: technique, tactics, fitness, and psychology.
Street Soccer is “economical
training” at its best because it can prioritize and develop any
specific skill while at the same time developing fitness, tactical
awareness, and self confidence.
The training progressions and competitive games are based on ball
contact, scoring goals, competition, and fun.
More activity and less talk is ultimately what our youngsters
crave during training. Long
speeches about soccer, by well intentioned coaches, do not improve ball
control, dribbling, or scoring; do little for decision making, and
absolutely nothing for fitness.
How
can Street Soccer help my child?
Street
Soccer is a more internal and
self directed form of training which gives the young player the self
confidence to make decisions in a fun and competitive environment.
Young players thrive on variety and encouragement to feed
their motivation. They do
not need to be criticized nor told what to do every time they get the
ball. Street
Soccer emphasizes control and confidence on the ball.
Dribbling and maneuvering with the ball (moves, control, lifts,
shielding etc.) are the most important skills that need to be mastered
between the ages of 9 and 13 since these are at the heart of player
development.
Who
is this program designed for?
Street
Soccer is designed for any
player ages U10 to U13 who wants to take his or her game to the next
level of enjoyment, participation, and development.
Whether a player wants more playing time on their current team or
they want to be the best player in their age group, Street
Soccer can help by giving each player more individual teaching time with the coach.
Groups will be between 8 and 10 players (fewer
players on the field guarantee that each child receives more individual
attention from the coach).
When
does the program start?
Street
Soccer is a 6 week program
that will run once per week. Our second session will begin on
Wednesday January 14th and finish on Wednesday February 18th.
(Last Street Soccer session will be February 25, 2009, no session on
February 11, 2009.) Unlike the regular season when we all seem to be going 3 to 4
times per week, Street Soccer is designed to minimize the time commitment during the
off season while maximizing the quality of the training.
Our goal is to fill each session with 8 to 10 players from one
team in order to facilitate carpools and to tailor the training for each
group based on the overall ability of the group.
Registration ends Friday January 7th.
